Week 2: The Biological Reset

Baby is about the size of N/A - pre-conception

Baby development

No embryo exists yet. The gestational age calculation begins at the Last Menstrual Period (LMP). Physiologically, the uterus is shedding its lining from the previous cycle. Follicles in the ovaries are maturing under FSH stimulation. One dominant follicle will emerge.

Your body

Estrogen levels begin rising, stimulating the endometrium to thicken and become rich with blood vessels and nutrients. The cervical mucus begins to change in preparation for ovulation.

What is important now

This is preparation week. If trying to conceive, continue prenatal vitamins with at least 400mcg folic acid. Track your cycle if using fertility awareness methods.
